Doctors' Attitudes to Homosexuality

PHILIP A. MORRIS M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., M.R.C.Psych., D.M.J.1

1 Consultant Psychiatrist, Kingsway Hospital, Derby, DE3 3LZ

Three hundred questionnaires relating to attitudes to homosexuality were sent to an equal number of general practitioners and psychiatrists. The results are tabulated and discussed. The overall impression from the investigation is that most doctors are willing to fall in with the patient's wishes and that offers of help and treatment are available on request. This would seem to be a healthy attitude, in keeping with the best traditions of medicine.
