Severe Shock Caused by Chlorpromazine Hypersensitivity

PANG L. MAN M.D.1 and CALVIN H. CHEN M.D., M.Sc.2

In this paper the authors present three cases of severe hypotensive shock due to chlorpromazine. All three cases had previously been treated uneventfully with this medication. We therefore believe that hypersensitivity might be the cause. All patients who have a history of having taken chlorpromazine previously should be given a sensitivity test before the drug is administered again.
